Foul & Hummus (Fava Beans & Chickpeas) in Tahini Sauce
Foul is one of the omnipresent staples of the Middle East cuisine. It is one of the most comforting and easiest dishes you can prepare. Tender buttery beans loaded with protein bathe in an irresistible lemony garlicky sauce jazzed up with a sprinkle of fresh vegetables and a drizzle of olive oil will boost your energy level and please your palate!
Foul & Hummus (Fava Beans & Chickpeas) in Tahini Sauce

Ingredients
- 2 cans mixed fava/ chickpeas (found in middle eastern grocery stores)
- 3 tbsp tahini sauce
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tbsp yogurt
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Rinse and drain the beans. Place them in a saucepan and cover them with water.
- Bring to a boil and let simmer covered on low heat for 15 minutes
- Meanwhile prepare the sauce by mixing the tahini with the lemon juice, garlic, yogurt and salt. Mix well until smooth.
- Drain the cooked beans reserving 1/2 cup of their cooking liquid.
- Slowly add the liquid to the sauce whisking continuously until combined and silky.
- Stir the cooked beans into the sauce. Sprinkle with chopped parsley/ mint and diced tomatoes.
- Drizzle with olive oil and serve with pita bread or as a side to an omelette or any entrée.
